Thousands of refugees and migrants trying to cross into the European Union are stranded along the Belarusian border as Poland has denied them entry amid a standoff with Belarus. Fears for their safety are growing due to freezing conditions, a lack of vital supplies and medical care, and a spate of deaths on both sides of the border. For their part Polish authorities are granting medical assistance to people that manage to cross the border and need it. But what is not clear is what will happen to them afterwards, will these people be allowed to stay here in Poland, move onto other European countries or will they be sent back to Belarus.
