Poland plans to spend more than $400m on a wall along its border with Belarus, following a surge in refugees and migrants trying to get into the country. The Polish government and the European Union blame the swell of asylum seekers on Belarus, which they say is waging a form of hybrid warfare in retaliation against sanctions. But refugee charities accuse Poland of illegal pushbacks and inhumane treatment that have led to deaths.
